Legal Aid is available for eligible families, covering MIAM appointments and mediation sessions. We also guide families through the Family Mediation Voucher Scheme, contributing toward mediation costs for child-focused cases.
The mediation process starts with a MIAM, followed by joint sessions with trained mediators, and concludes with agreements documented for legal use. By resolving disputes outside court, families save time, reduce stress, and maintain better relationships for the future.

Joint Mediation Sessions – Facilitated discussions to improve communication and develop agreements
Documentation – Written agreements such as Parenting Plans or Financial Summaries for legal use
Follow-Up – Additional support as needed to ensure agreements are implemented

Families may qualify for Legal Aid, which can cover the cost of:

Assistance with your ex-partner’s MIAM if needed
Eligibility is based on income and financial circumstances. Our team can assess your eligibility quickly and guide you through the process, ensuring that financial concerns do not prevent access to professional mediation.
For families with children, the Family Mediation Voucher Scheme can provide up to £500 toward the cost of mediation. Lakes Mediation helps clients apply for the scheme, ensuring that mediation is affordable and accessible.
